Think I'll go to this; I've always had an interest in Freemasonry: https://www.leamingtoncourier.co.uk/news/residents-invited-to-freemasons-open-day-in-warwick-1-8506793

I've loads of interesting books on the subject. Forgetting the conspiracy theories the Masons do a lot of good. Although you could never be a manager at one place I worked if you weren't a Mason.

Yes, they do a lot of fundraising and community work - it's a shame they don't blow their trumpet about it a bit more.

I was once approached to join a local lodge by a manager where I worked. I declined because at that time I had a demanding young family and even more demanding wife. On reflection, perhaps I made the wrong decision? - I guess we'll never know.

You can actually apply to join the Masons nowadays (I'm going through the process myself at the moment); a lot of Lodges have websites you can contact them through.

I didn't know that.

The rules used to say that you must seek out two members to propose you. But as nobody would openly admit to being a Mason it amounted to membership by invite only.

Best of luck with your application, but you won't be able to tell us about it as part of the initiation ceremony threatens to remove your tongue should you reveal Masonic secrets.

I've just got back from visiting the open day. It was fascinating to look round the building and the Freemasons meeting rooms (or Temples, as they're properly known as).
