I've been hering a lot about Marcus Willis over the last few days, but had no idea he's based in Warwick: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/local-news/wimbledon-warwick-tennis-coach-marcus-11535190

Not heard of him, but I'm not a tennis fan.

But it is good to be featured in the press for good reasons.

I'd never heard of him either but I'm just watching television and he seems to be doing well against Federer

Apparently, he was on the verge of quitting tennis - or, at least coaching - at the beginning of the year, but his girlfriend persuaded him to stick with it. I be he's glad he did.

Not a bad day's pay off was it? :)

He got something like £30,000 for his appearance, didn't he?

The landlord of my local says it was £50k according to the paper he was reading at the time. - Definitely not to be sneezed at for a few hours work.

I wish this guy well for the future, I hope we haven't heard the last of him.

Fingers crossed that we haven't.

Marcus' success seems to be attracting new people to tennis; I hope that some of them stick with it beyond the end of the summer holidays: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-37148520

Fingers crossed for another few winners.

When I was an apprentice, I worked with an old guy who had been a Warwickshire County player in his younger years. As a 60 year old he was still pretty nifty on the court.
