The demise of the Co-op is taking the food store with it: http://www.nuneaton-news.co.uk/Town-s-op-food-store-set-close/story-28107443-detail/story.html

The Coventry store also closed recently.

In all honesty, I think that the Co-Op movement has failed to move with the times, hence is largely the architect of its own destruction. - Which is very sad.

A rethink on the non-food stores, but don't hold your breath: http://www.nuneaton-news.co.uk/op-review-store-closures/story-28927468-detail/story.html

They can dress it up how they like, but the board is responsible for the lack of success of the non food stores.

A couple of years back I wanted a cooker. I knew exactly which make and model and went into the Coventry co-op. They had one, but it was £50 more expensive and attracted a delivery/removal charge. I asked a sales assistant if they would meet another retailer's price. - "Not an online one Sir!"

The board has buried its collective head in the sand and refused to move forward with the times. I'm a member of the co-op and every year I despair at the nominations for the board. It's the old boys network!
