The Fairy & The Immigrant
A beautiful fairy appeared one day to an immigrant claimant outside the Social Security Offices.
'My good man,' the fairy said, 'I've been told to grant you three wishes, since you’ve just arrived in England with your wife and seven children.'
The man told the fairy: 'Well, in Muslimstan where I come from we don't have good teeth, so I want new teeth, maybe a lot of gold in them.'
The fairy looked at the man's almost toothless grin and --PING!!! He had a brand new shining set of gold teeth in his mouth!
'What else?' asked the fairy, 'two, more wishes, to go'.
The refugee claimant now got bolder.
'I need a big house with a three car garage in Birmingham with eight bedrooms for my family and the rest of my refugee relatives who still live in my country. I want to bring them all over here.
PING! - In the distance there could be seen a beautiful mansion with a three car garage, a long driveway, a walkout patio with a BBQ, and a sparkling swimming pool and a BMW, full of his nephews playing their music.
'One, more wish, left for you', said the fairy, waving her wand.
I want to be English with English clothes instead of rags, and shawl and I want to have white skin like the English.'
PING! - The man was transformed, wearing worn out jeans from ASDA, a dirty Primark T-shirt and a greasy baseball cap. He had his bad teeth back and the mansion had disappeared from the horizon.
'What happened to my new teeth?' he wailed. 'Where is my new house? Where’s my Visa Gold Card?'
The fairy said 'Tough luck. Now that you are English, you're entitled to sweet #$%$ all like the rest of us”.
And she disappeared

Now ain't that the truth!
I personally don't blame anyone for wanting to come here if they think it will give them a better life. I do blame our politicians though.
From a site I frequent (apologies for some of the crudity, but I think it brings things home)...
The problems is with those illegals is that the majority are single blokes from Sub-Sahara countries, full of untested testosterone, and 'empying of gonads somehwere', where the joys of equality of women, non Muslims etc are often celebrated in unusual ways. They, like any other person, when travelling, bring their culture, emotional, criminals (if any), tribal, religious and 'rapey, murdery' stuff with them (behaviours). With hundreds if not thousands potentially wandering around the streets and byeways of Old Blighty, it will make what's happening in the 'Unmentionable Northern Towns' seem insoluable.
Of course those Metro LiberLefty luvvies who want to allow all these folks into Old Blighty to walk on sidewalks paved with gold, and us being the "Land of Milk, Honey, Pussy, booze & Benefits" - those same Liberal lefty 'elites' will say- "Not in our back yards, but someone elses". Perhaps they will all be 'bussed' oop North to Scotland and push across the borders on the borders to be housed in tower Blocks in Glasgow and places north.
We really are storing up trouble for ourselves. There will be riots and other civil disorders. Of course, it won't worry the politicians as they'll be safe in their ivory towers; but for the rest of us, well, I hope you know how to defend your home and families, because you wont be getting any help from the authorities.
My old dad always said, "oil and water don't mix" and by God, he was right!

This is the tip of the iceberg! At last the press are reporting what many of us have known about for years.

I can only hope that the authorities handle this properly and swiftly. These people must be taught to respect OUR laws and ways.

I thought this guy summed things up quite well...
Continually since the weekend there has been report after report from all parts of the media and it seems to be biased towards a narrative that "we should be more sympathetic and understanding as to the plight of those who are undertaking these acts of desperation..." rather than addressing clearly the truth that "The obvious actions that they are undertaking of criminality and intent to clearly ignoring the simple conventions of civil society, and follow the rules"
So we have yet another COBRA meeting this morning; yet more politico's sitting on their thumbs, rather than getting something done.
This isn't a UK or French problem, it's EU wide. The Italians aren't doing their bit (processing properly and fingerprinting) but the bottom line is that by removing Gadaffi the West created a massive problem for itself.

I would think that the tunnel should be closed until this is sorted.43,000 immigrants-roughly - in Calais and more pouring in, and more landing in Italy, we cannot cope with them in our little country, and why should we.Not racist but practical.Cameron needs to get together with the Paris heads and come to some agreement, but he wont, too scared. There must be someone -even in another party who has a solution and dares to put it in action.Again Cameron knows best.
Only complete restraint on the countries they are coming from -including aid so that their rich governments have to look after their own people.. They couldn't be much worse off surely than risking lives by travelling here.
I heard a comment today comparing it to Pandora's box.Which means it goes on forever.
rebbonk
31-07-2015, 12:07 PM
Of course we should close the tunnel. (I never thought it ought have been built in the first place!) Sadly, our muppet politicians are gutless and won't do it. If they did, Calais would be a ghost town very quickly and the French might start taking their part of the responsibility seriously and returning these illegals to the place they entered France from.
Many of these people are fleeing from countries that were once colonised by Western European countries. They didn't want us there so we left and handed them generous aid packages. Suddenly, they see that life isn't necessarily better without colonial rule and now want to go to the countries that they once hated.
But what of all that aid? All it has done is line the pockets of a few and never filtered down to those that truly need it.
Europe cannot continue to take in all and sundry. The EU needs to develop a hard line on this, but the left wing, hand-wringing, apologists that inhabit Brussels lack the guts to do it.

Good to see someone agreeing with me. Most of my friends say it cant be done. Cameron hasn't endeared himself to the French-(altho' I can't see why 'swarm' should anger them.Watching tv, they do actually'swarm.')
We know he wont do anything--all talk, that chap --a suit with a voice. And Hollande- whinging 'we always get the blame'
They surely haven't done much--the same as us.
I'd have the immigrants shipped back to France as soon as they arrive.I know France are in a bad situation geographically but It may make them realize what they are NOT doing.

Asylum seeking is covered by the Dublin convention (IIRC). First safe haven you register, then you are allocated residence in one of the EU countries that has space and is willing to take you. Shame that these rules aren't being applied properly.

If the tunnel was closed it would be a major disaster for business in this country--but all the delays, and the way things are going it will be just as bad. The situation will get worse and eventually it will have to be locked from both ends..All the fences in the world wont keep people out and Cameron's extra police will incite more trouble and riots where people get killed.
rebbonk
02-08-2015, 08:09 AM
It would be a major issue for this country, but it'd be far more (and much quicker in effect) damaging to Calais. That is why it ought be done, thus forcing Calais to put pressure on that useless womanising muppet Hollande.
Cameron is a man of words, but no action. He talks big but doesn't back things up. He's about as much use as a chocolate fire-guard.
The EU really needs to get a grip of things. At the moment it appears to be a UK/France problem, but it isn't, it's EU wide and will only get worse. Before we know it we'll have half of Africa rocking up on our shores wanting 'asylum'.
Genuine asylum seekers I have a little sympathy with. The violent, thuggish, behaviour we are currently seeing is not from asylum seekers but from economic migrants who think the UK streets are paved with (free) gold. What we are seeing at Calais would in no way be an asset to this country.

Britain and France on Sunday urged other European Union states to help them tackle the growing crisis in northern France caused by thousands of migrants seeking to make illegal and dangerous crossings into England.
The French port of Calais has become a focal point for the huge influx of migrants entering Europe to escape poverty and violence in the Middle East and Africa.

EU offers aid to France for migrants, shows little sympathy for UK
The EU has said it can provide aid to France as it struggles to deal with the growing number of migrants around the northern port city of Calais but has shown little sympathy for UK complaints about the situation noting that it expects more solidarity from London.
"The commission is aware that the situation as regards migrants in Calais is deteriorating. This is another stark example of the need for a greater level of solidarity and responsibility in the way we deal with migratory pressures in Europe," a commission spokesperson said Monday.
"We can provide technical assistance through the EU agencies and emergency funding" to France, she added.

They get enough money off us so why couldn't they buy their own fencing and use their own police at their end.
If the boot was on the other foot I wouldn't be certain of help from anyone that side of the channel. And how dare they try to force us to take more immigrants. They're bringing this little country to it's knees as it is, with the housing situation.Beats me where the money is coming from to keep them--the immigrants.-----Sorry I do know----the government is screwing it from our indiginous homeless.I watch the telly, and hear how our own poor are suffering and can't get the benefits needed just to stay alive.---and then hear that 'only £35' is being given to failed asylum seekers per week, when some of our lot can't get a penny. And what's the betting who will be using the food banks most of all.

So someone in office knows!
Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has come under attack for describing African migrants on their way to Calais as "marauding".
Labour leadership hopeful Liz Kendall told Sky News that Mr Hammond's comments were "dehumanising" and did not help solve the problem.
The Foreign Secretary, speaking on a visit to Singapore, was responding to comments by Greek PM Alexis Tsipras that his country was being overwhelmed by arrivals from beyond the Mediterranean.
Mr Hammond said an influx in African migrants will undermine living standards and social cohesion across Europe and warned the EU could not afford to absorb "millions" from the continent.
SKY (http://news.sky.com/story/1533015/hammonds-african-migrant-comments-shameful)
And if those Labour mouthpieces keep on, it'll be a cold day in Hell before Labour get a chance to run the country again. Labour are totally out of touch with the man on the street! we don't want, can't afford and have no room for migrants.

Right, pin back your lugholes, I've found a solution...
Around 400 villages are up for sale in Spain's northern Galicia, some of which are being offered for free.
The villages come with verdant settings, including bread-making hearths, barns and stone and wood granaries used until a decade ago, when the villages had a decent population.
"This is as near as paradise as I can think of," says Mark Adkinson, who founded the Galician Country Homes real estate firm and has recently begun marketing abandoned villages.
This northwestern region of the country is plagued with a shrinking population, resulting in some mayors selling the villages for free to anyone who can repopulate it by bringing people back, more importantly, the youth.

Today I came back from Birmingham hospital along M6.I saw a lorry with one back door open, the driver in the cab having a smoke.A little way along we passed 3 men walking. The ambulance driver said he sees this often. If a driver suspects he has immigrants, he stops and opens the doors to let them out and jumps back in the cab, locking himself in.When they are far enough away he shuts the rear doors and sets off to avoid a fine.
I wonder how far they got? I think they'd be somewhere near about Corley Service Station by now.

The police ought be picking up walkers along the M6. The problem is if they do pick these people up they take them as far as the nearest safe release and tell them to report to an immigration centre. - Of course they'll do that!
What we ought be doing is holding and processing all of these immigrants in an off shore centre where things aren't too comfortable. We ought also take our time doing it. Are there any disused military bases in the outer Hebrides?

It is a big problem, but wouldn't it be better to sort out the problems in the countries that they are fleeing from?
Many of these countries are ex-colonies and were left in quite a decent state with fully functioning infrastructures and systems in place for the future. We could quite easily topple these corrupt regimes, but what rises up afterwards? And lets be quite honest here, many of the peoples of these ex-colonies are predisposed to laziness. Haven't we made a rod for our own backs with aid? If a problem occurs, these people sit around waiting for the aid to arrive rather than get on sorting the problems out for themselves.
I can't help feeling that if these 'refugees' put as much effort into sorting out there own countries as they have getting as far as Calais they might be doing the right thing.
I have a similar point of view Rebbonk. If we can make economic conditions better in these countries, the populations wouldn't feel the need to find better lives in the 1st World. However, this is a long-term solution (I'm talking decades), and global leaders (1st, 2nd & 3rd world) don't seem able to see beyond the weekend.
Basically, we need to find a way of managing (note my use of wording there!) migration in the short to medium term, whilst working towards decent standards of living (everyone being a billionaire is not a realistic aim) around the world, whilst avoiding b*****ing the planet up and bringing civilization down through pure self-interested economics.

No mount of money sent to our ex Colonial countries would solve the problem. We left them with good infrastructure and well organised systems--and money. And look what happened. The people in office did what they liked when they thought of the money, and as my Dad used to say''They saw the money and rubbed their collective hands thinking,'its all ours' -forgetting the people" and mark my words there'll be trouble." how true. They weren't trained enough to deal with it. So now the regime is on it's last legs.It must be such a disparingly harsh regime if all these thousands are risking their own and childrens' lives to get out.
They -the government officials of any of these countries don't seen the brightest bunch to negotiate political things.Afraid of losing their riches.
I don't know what the answer is.
If we took our aid away more people who cant afford money to migrate will die.

Ungrateful b@st@rds
Migrants at the Ter Apel camp in the Netherlands have complained about feeling “bored”, having to eat bad food and not having fast enough internet.
A video posted on Live Leak shows the migrants, who many believe to be desperately poor refugees, complaining about the lack of home comforts in the camp.
One says how “breakfast is small, lunch small” with another adding how “bored” they all feel. “You can just eat, sleep, use the slow internet, it’s so bad.”
He added, in surprisingly good English: “We asked them for language courses, but they said we don’t have it now because this is an emergency camp.”
The first then complains how the authorities haven’t given him enough money to buy cigarettes.
The video concludes with them complaining about the “service”.

Oh dear, oh dear. Germany is now making very nasty threats against those that dare speak out against these awfully nice people that are enriching their country...
If you post xenophobic comments on Facebook, that means your own child (custody rights) could be at risk. It is not necessary (for the posting) to be a criminal offence so that the courts consider your child to be 'at risk'
Those who spread radical or xenophobic views risk not only to lose their job and good social standing, but also to lose their custody rights to their children. This is especially true with xenophobic Facebook posts
The political or religious opinions of a parent can have an impact on his custody rights to his child, if the child's welfare is considered endangered. A merely controversial opinion is not sufficient grounds for restriction, but the Family Court has jurisdiction to decide whether an action endangers the child's welfare. The decisive factor is common sense.

A mass brawl has erupted at a tented camp for migrants in Germany, with Albanians and Pakistanis fighting each other with sticks and irritant sprays.
It took police several hours to quell the violence between some 400 migrants at Calden, near Kassel in central Germany, German media report.
Fourteen people were injured, three of them police officers. It began with an argument in the camp's canteen.

Now we can see the 'Calais crisis' for what it was - a media-made myth
Where have all the Calais “migrants” gone? Gone from front pages, every one. Since the picture of three-year-old Aylan Kurdi was published on 3 September, thus transforming the Syrian refugee crisis into national news, the drama in France has all but vanished from the news agenda.
No more TV news footage of young men climbing fences. No more newspaper photographs of despairing people huddled in the camp known as The Jungle. No more fulminating leading articles. No more criticism of the French police or British politicians.
The whole business has melted away, not least because it was a small-scale matter when seen in the context of the wider problem of the humanitarian crisis exemplified by the world-wide movement of people. Calais was, by contrast, a fabricated “crisis” - a non-crisis, in fact.

And they're still at it!
Eurotunnel and Eurostar passenger and freight services have resumed with delays after 120 migrants broke into the Calais terminal overnight.
Trains were running through just one of the two tunnels between Folkestone and Calais after fences were breached.
Trains stopped from 23:30 BST on Friday after staff were shoved and stones thrown when an organised group of 200 migrants tried to enter the terminal.
Security staff were overwhelmed by the "number and aggression" of the group.
BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34432386)
Yes, this lot will integrate so well and be a real boon to the country! We should flood that tunnel!
Now you mention it, immigration had disappeared from the news. Shows how much attention I pay! Good to see it back on the agenda again - not that anything will get done.
I like the PM's idea of keeping refugees closer to their countries, so they can return home when/if things settle down. But I guess that runs the risk of refugees being stuck in camps for several generations, similar to the situation many Palestinians are in.

Council urgently making homes available for Syrian refugees in Swansea
SWANSEA Council is acting as a matter of urgency to make some of its housing stock available to potentially accommodate Syrian refugees in need.
The council has responded to a call for help from the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Relocation scheme in the wake of discussions with the Home Office.
Senior members and officers will activate a clause in the council's housing policy that allows the authority to make decisions of this kind without full council approval in the face of an emergency crisis.
Andrea Lewis, cabinet member for next generation services, said: "You can't help but to be moved and horrified by footage on the news of refugees risking their lives to escape war and persecution for better lives.

Germany changes its tune on refugees
Just weeks after Germans surprised the world, and themselves, by embracing the challenge of taking in hundreds of thousands of refugees, Germany’s leaders are rolling up the welcome mat.
In a primetime appearance on German television on Thursday, Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière lashed out at the “many” refugees he accused of not following Germany’s rules.
“There are many refugees who believe that they can just allocate themselves,” he said. “They leave the facilities and order a taxi — and then, surprisingly, they have the money to drive hundreds of kilometers across Germany. They strike because they don’t like the way they’re accommodated, they create trouble because they don’t like the food, or they get into fist fights in the refugee centers.”

Serco, the outsourcing group, has apologised for what the Home Office described as the “totally inappropriate” use of a stretch limousine to transport a group of asylum seekers from London to Manchester.
Images have emerged of a 16-seat Hummer in the village of Longford, near Heathrow, where a hotel has been using houses to provide temporary accommodation for asylum seekers.
Reacting to reports that the vehicle was used to move a number of people to Manchester from the village, the Home Office indicated that the vehicle had been hired by Serco and said on Tuesday that it had expressed “strong disapproval”.
A spokesperson said: “Our contractors are responsible for arranging the transport of asylum seekers and bear the cost of doing so. However, this incident was totally inappropriate and Serco has apologised.

German Village of 102 Braces for 750 Asylum Seekers
SUMTE, Germany — This bucolic, one-street settlement of handsome redbrick farmhouses may for the moment have many more cows than people, but next week it will become one of the fastest growing places in Europe. Not that anyone in Sumte is very excited about it.
In early October, the district government informed Sumte’s mayor, Christian Fabel, by email that his village of 102 people just over the border in what was once Communist East Germany would take in 1,000 asylum seekers.
His wife, the mayor said, assured him it must be a hoax. “It certainly can’t be true” that such a small, isolated place would be asked to accommodate nearly 10 times as many migrants as it had residents, she told him. “She thought it was a joke,” he said.
But it was not!

The mayor of Cologne has summoned police for crisis talks after about 80 women reported sexual assaults and muggings by men on New Year's Eve.
The scale of the attacks on women at the city's central railway station has shocked Germany. About 1,000 drunk and aggressive young men were involved.

Bl**dy muppet! What woke him out of his slumbers?
Now, what will we do about it?
Frankly, this is a problem the major powers created at the end of the Great War (think I've posted similar elsewhere on WOL) by drawing arbitrary lines across a map of the Middle East, and clumsily trying to play people against each other. This suggestion will have a lot of people gasping, and shouting 'You can't do that', but maybe those arbitrary lines should be redrawn along ethnic/sectarian lines, and the people of these new states told to stop bothering each other & concentrate on selling oil and gas to us westerners.
I went to a presentation by the Children's Society this evening. There were 2 teenagers from Syria talking about their experiences in Damascus - rationed & expensive food, little water and electricity etc. I was amazed at their resilience, what they & their parents had to do to to get them to safety, and their determination to make good lives for themselves now they're in the UK.
