I wish them well, but £1,000,000 won't go far. That said, any money being spent to improve areas has to be a good thing.

Don't know about anyone else, but what's planned doesn't seem to be £1m worth: http://www.rugbyadvertiser.co.uk/news/local-news/big-welcome-for-rugby-world-cup-on-town-landmark-1-6583198

It basically amounts to a beer tent (with a TV), and a few banners. Great.

An image of the fanzone's been released. I wonder if it's going to be used as a supermarket distribution centre off the M^ afterwards?

At least Rugby seems to have done well; personally, I'm having trouble remembering the world cup: http://www.rugbyadvertiser.co.uk/news/local-news/1m-spent-on-world-cup-has-given-rugby-a-huge-boost-1-7306848

An estimated £3 extra was spent in the local economy for every £1 invested.

If that is verifiable it's a great result, though doubt is cast upon it further down the page.
