Vivisection- This is an extreme situation and I ask Is this absolutley necessary?

I cannot help thinking that this is not humane and not necessary. I am sure there is a far better way in this day and age. The dissection of one cat, kitten, rabbit,dog or puppy is enough- how many does it take to demonstrate the same? I am quite sickened by this. It isn't science, it is justification for employment all in the name of science. I wish some one would do something about it. A report is commissioned but in the mean time how many more defenseless animals will be treated like this? Its shameful.

What about the 200,000 abortions a year abortions carried out in the UK. No one bats an eylid.

Margaret, I agree that abortions are often carried out as a decision following from irresponsible behaviour. Not all are though and most women who undergo an abortion do not do so lightly nor do they ever forget it. The vivisection thing has a completely different slant. A woman has her choice to decide,to engage in being irresponsible or accidents do happen and so does rape as well as medical abnormalities and health issues requiring this disturbing and serious decision. Not so with vivisection, animals are bred and sold for this purpose and for what good? Drug testing is more or less defunct now Thank heavens, so what purpose does vivisection serve? This is serious money invested in the laboratory and the staff payroll not just a tiny tin pot facility.

I think it's disgusting breeding and experimenting on innocent animals I abhor cruelty like that.
I just feel it is beyond my power to do anything except write to my MP. Perhaps the animal rights could get on to them.

I also feel this sense of being powerless to stop it but lobbying MPs and petitioning Parliament is helpful. If they get 10,000 negatives then it has to be heard in Parliament. I need to look out the stuff on the subject on the Government's E-petitions site. If you have sufficient contacts and use Facebook, I'd urge you to copy the article and share it on Facebook with a link to the E-Petitions. I don't have a Facebook account but think I may ask my daughter to do this for me on hers. At first glance, there isn't much on it.http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/

I know veterinary students have to learn and they do under controlled environments with expert supervision but they do perform procedures on kittens and puppies that result in the poor things having to be euthanised at the end. I find it sad to have to accept that but cannot see what this lot is doing can be helpful in any way. The article doesn't identify them and certainly not as vet students as far as I can see. The need to kill these animals, cut them up by way of a conveyor belt process is pointless. The undercover reporter managed to rescue just 3 dogs from what I recall.
