Railway Engineering Works Over Christmas

A lot of people complain about engineering works delaying journeys during weekends & holidays; frankly Network Rail should carry out work between 6 & 10am and 4 & 7pm Monday to Friday to show the whinghing masses why the work is done when it is.

I don't think the great majority understand what is done by way of maintenance. However, if the maintenance wasn't done and there was an accident, there'd be an outcry from these very same people

Yeah, for all its faults, the 'system' just quietly gets on with running the country and makes sure the world trundles on and people only seem to notice when it goes wrong.
