Home made soup is a good hearty, nutritious, inexpensive, all round winter warmer.

If anyone would like to share their particular favourite home brew, please post it here.

Yesterday I made a pot of soup using what vegetables I had and it turned out very nice.
I added, Onions, Leeks, Carrots, a small pumpkin, turnip and some broccoli, salt and black pepper.
It would have been good to add a few cloves of garlic, but that'll be for another time.

Lovely with a chunk of granary bread.

I love celery soup....

Spot of olive oil

1 garlic clove, crushed

1 onion, chopped thinly

bunch of celery, roughly chopped

200ml chicken stock

(Ingredients can be scaled up or down to suit yourself. Carrots can be added and/or cooked potatoes)

Heat the oil in a saucepan and cook the garlic, onion and half of the celery over a low heat for five minutes, until softened. (Don't let the onions brown)

Add the chicken stock and simmer for 10-12 minutes.

Transfer the soup to a blender add the other half of the celery and liquidise.

Goes lovely with hot thick toast or crusty French baton

Sounds lovely, celery is very good for you too. I'll try your recipe, I've just bought a new blender so I can try it out.
