And it looks like being very a good weekend weather-wise. :)
Looks like we're in good weather for quite a few days :)
And it's back again this year: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-35412088

I must admit, I find this to be a little perverse. The city is cutting 'essential' services and closing things down, yet it sees fit to fund this?
I can't help thinking that priorities are a little 'skewed'.
I had o idea The Charlatans were still going: http://www.coventry.gov.uk/news/article/1595/the_charlatans_set_to_headline_coventry_godiva_fes tival_2016

Sadly, it means nothing to me. The Beatles and the Stones are far more my era :)
They were fairly big in the 1990s, but disappeared into obscurity years ago.
Some of the lineup has been announced: http://www.coventry.gov.uk/news/article/1735/community_takes_to_the_stage_at_coventry_godiva_fe stival
A very successful weekend, but the festival's future is still in doubt: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/whats-on/music-nightlife-news/its-huge-advert-coventry-majority-11569009

When you read of cuts that CCC are proposing, you must seriously question them continuing to fund this.
Personally, I wouldn't mind paying, especially with some of the big acts the festival has.
The festival's still going to be free this year: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/godiva-festival-back-still-free-12534381

Scandalous when you look at what this inept council has inflicted on those needing support and care. :(
The £300,000 definitely could be spent more effectively.
I'm getting old, I don't know most of the acts at this year's festival: https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/godiva-festival-lineup-14986500

I've not known most of the acts for several years!
My daughter (under 30) complains that night clubs are for the 'youngsters!'
Sadly, age catches up with all of us at some point.
Looks like entrance charges are here to stay, although £2 isn't a lot: https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/coventry-godiva-festival-tickets-cost-17072405

It's still heavily subsidised: I wonder how long before the council realise that they can not only remove the subsidy but actually make a profit?
To be fair, I did read more than a few complaints about this year's event. I hope that lessons have been learned for the future.
Ticket prices for the 2020 festival have been announced: https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/godiva-festival-2020-ticket-price-17614264

Seems to be quite a lot of discontent on social media
It's not really something I ever fancied going to, even when it was free. Godiva is still a fraction of the price of most other festivals, though; perhaps Godiva fans have had it too good for too long.
It's back this year; no acts yet: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-60836384
