I truly feel sorry for the residents of Stratford.
I suspect this is the first of a number of applications that will be made and bearing in mind the huge financial muscle of these corporate organizations, there will be quite a few buildings going up in the next 5 to 10 years.
Stratford Council is an utter disgrace of course. From being a really excellent organization well up into the 1990's, it seems now to have been captured by people that act as mouthpieces for large companies, or the RSC.
The people of Stratford must despair.
No sooner do they turf out one lot of useless set of councillors then they get another set coming in.
The aim seems to be, as someone told me a few years back, is to turn Stratford into a Disney on Avon.
You only need to look at what they done to Bancroft Gardens and that hideous WW2 tower by the theatre, to see that that corporate interests have captured what should be a democratic process.
Of course, these so called jobs at McDonalds, are no jobs at all. Minimum wage culture and huge overweight people barely able to get through the doors.
Poor Stratford.
