Weight limit on Clopton Bridge fails.

This bridge was built in the 15th century and it is clearly inappropriate for it to be taking huge supermarket juggernauts 600 years later.
We are all aware from the shenanigans over the appalling changes to the theatre and gardens that Stratford Council pays little attention to the people of Stratford and gives every attention to commercial interests and that of the strange people that run the RSC.
The poor people of Stratford must almost despair at times. No sooner do they throw out a lot of useless new labour time councillors then the get another lot coming in.

It is astonishing that modern traffic and particularly these huge lorries are allowed to go over this historic structure, which is one of the most wonderful examples of 15th century civil engineering.

The main problem is that the bridge is the main entrance point into town from the south, hence all the traffic causing a bottleneck. There has been some talk recently of building another road and crossing further to the east (towards Wellesbourne), which will be tied in to the potential 2,500 house development off the Banbury Road, which a lot of people will be opposed to.
