Large developments seem to be in the pipeline all over the county!

If we utilised the housing stock we have and controlled immigration there wouldn't be any need for this wholesale destruction of our countryside. :(

A problem nationally seems to be that there seems to be plenty of empty houses, but these seem to mostly be in places where there aren't many jobs, so people have no reason to live there and move to places where there jobs, causing housing shortages in those areas.

I agree that the houses are in places were there are not many jobs but also, is there a chance too that many don't want the older homes, instead preferring new ones that have been built by carving up another chunk of England's green and pleasant land? Another option might be to have a public transport system that people want to use so that they can get from areas that might have a lower rental because they need to travel to get to jobs and becomes a viable alternative to having to have a car to get to work?

There are so many issues and it doesn't take a mathematician to think... "Where do you start?"

No, but it takes a politician who has the brains to look further ahead than his next election campaign.

Any candidates for the position?

Bit thin on the ground aren't they? :)

Indeed they are, in fact so thin I would almost go as far as saying that as a species they either didn't exist or are extinct.
