For those who have never heard of it, the NWTA was formed in 2004 the promote and generally raise the profile of the north part of Warwickshire. Although the association has no boundaries as such, (visitors don't recognise such things) it basically covers the towns of Atherstone, Coleshill, Polesworth and Nuneaton and Bedworth.
We have a website Northern Warwickshire Tourism Association (http://www.visitnorthernwarwickshire.com) and are currently preparing a new leaflet, our third, for publication in early Spring. We are actively recruiting new members so they can be included in the new leaflet.
As well as our members there is an events page for the area.
Contact via the website.

Following on to my post in November 2009 the Northern Warwickshire Tourism Association launched its new tourism guide last week.

We launched our new tourism guide last week in Atherstone, literally stopping the traffic in Long Street when BBC presenter Liz Kershaw arrived by vintage Midland Red bus. She was met by the Mayors of North Warwickshire (John Moore) and Nuneaton and Bedworth (Tom Wilson) who welcomed her to the launch.

All three made short speeches supporting the NWTA and local tourism in general, it’s a pity that our local councils don’t feel the same having withdrawn full time tourism officers.

It’s interesting that the areas on either side of North Warwickshire, Tamworth and Hinckley/Bosworth are currently forming their own tourism associations, although both are being funded by their councils. It’s good to report that they both want to work with the NWTA so we can offer the visitor a joined up tourism experience based around the Watling Street corridor.

BBC Coventry and Warwickshire did us proud over the course of the day, Keith Wedgebury recording a wealth of recordings for his ‘Wedge’s Warwickshire’ Sunday afternoon programme.
