It was sixty years ago when top comedy scriptwriters Ray Galton and Alan Simpson first started writing together. During the 1950s and 1960s they wrote for virtually all the top comedians of the time, and their collaboration produced such gems as ‘Hancock’s Half Hour’ and ‘Steptoe and Son’.
To mark this 60th anniversary, the Tony Hancock Archives team is organising a special tribute event, which is taking place in Coventry on 12 September. The programme will include rare screenings; a special guest appearance by actress Damaris Hayman (subject to commitments); a quiz; a draw; and much more!
