A victory over the 'Health and Safety' killjoys, has seen the return of the Whitachre Pram race! Sadly we've already missed it, as it was on May 3rd. But this is just great news, it's wonderful to see a local town tradition restored. They bring the community together, and give the area a reason to call themselves unique.

I hope it went well for them, and that it will pave the way for more local traditions to return that have been banned for 'health and safety' concerns.

It was such a success last year that it will return on Sunday 2nd of May 2010, so mark it in your diaries!

Our ancestors could teach us much about bringing and keeping communities together and this was one of the main objectives for holding the pram race again, also to support local charities and have a great day out. It seems that Macmillan and St Giles Hospice shared the £10,274.00 raised last year. This year, Take A Break in Coleshill who provide specialist care and services for disabled children and their families and the new QE Military Patients Unit for injured military personnel will share the money raised.

A big Well Done :clapping: to those that stood together, with the support of the community, against the tentacles of the Nanny State to bring back this wonderful event.

Most things we do in life carry an element of risk, but not keeping communities together, supporting each other and finding the happier, fun moments in life is a far greater risk to our longer term wellbeing.
