Hi all,
The new style front page is now live. A lot of the work on it has been done using feedback from a web building forum I've been using. While looks wise it's not a complete change, the way it has been coded is completely different. Here's a few of the things that have been done.
- Have greatly simplified the index page.
- Converted the entire thing to CSS
- Made the document html 4 strict
- shortened the size of the header
- Cut down dramatically on the text and moved it all to my about page.
- Made pretty buttons
- Made navigation far more obvious with better colours.
I've greatly improved the about page, to give details of every feature of the site. I want to add more about the background of the forum in the future, but I'm happy with it for now.
Also on the main page, you will notice a new link called 'Warwickshire Information'. This is the start of a massive new arm to the site, which will hopefully over time become one of the best resources for all Warwickshire Information on the net. It will literally be for any Warwickshire Related material. I hope to draw greatly on any articles submitted in the articles section in the future, with the best ones becoming part of the WO info. section. I will be putting a lot spare time into adding information to it myself, but member submissions will always be greatly received. :)
Finally, some more big news. Jelsoft (The company that makes the forum software), are finalising some new add-ons for the forum. I will soon have the option to provide people with their very own blog space, and personal pages (a bit like myspace). More on this as they send it.
Oh and one final final thing, I'm paying someone to integrate some modifications which will allow members to add youtube, google vid, etc. to their posts. So you will be able to submit any Warwickshire Videos you find in your threads. There will also be an archive section showing all the submitted videos on the site.
Well that's what is going on right now, I'm very excited about the new and coming changes. They should all help to bring much needed traffic to the site, and make it for more dynamic.
:peacefingers:
