We got the brunt of it at the studios, a nearby lighting strike overloaded our lighting desk and we were off air on both channels for near enough an hour.

I knew it would be raining heavily today and tomorrow though, because the mop is on and it never fails to rain on a mop day.

Created a few problems for the railway too - yeah, yeah, I know, nothing new there - :p

Lightening strike at or near Wolverhampton this morning meant delays and cancelled trains. Another at Didcot - near Reading - same story. It seems too that there was a bridge strike at Swinton - would imagine the truck went slippy sliding... all in all made for some disgruntled and inconvenienced passengers.

History shizara. It was a hiring of workers fair. Workers would wear various things so hirers could identify their profession. Normal average workers would wear a piece of mop on their hat, just a strand. There are actually a few mop fairs arounf the country, most are in parks though not in the main street like Stratfords.
Here in Atherstone our fair was called the statutes fair, and was on the square car park opposite the cattle market until the town redevelopment made it homeless.
I've been to Stratford mop a few times.
