As someone who generally only buys the food they need, I find the concept of buying it and letting it sit & rot in your fridge/cupboard a hard one to get my head around: https://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news/county-council-helps-spread-food-waste-message-28193/

Foodbanks do a good job of using SOME of the produce that would otherwise be thrown away by supermarkets: https://stratfordobserver.co.uk/news/district-chiefs-to-consider-action-plan-to-tackle-food-poverty/

I very rarely throw food away. I plan my meals and buy what I need to support my plans.

We seldom have waste food. I Cook enough for two.
Sometimes bananas go off quick , and carrots can go black if you leave them too long. Though we usually stock up the freezer with plenty of stuff so we cut down the amount of shopping trips.

I no longer visit shops, I order fortnightly online from Tesco. It just means that I need to think ahead and plan a little.
