Update - Well after the Council published in the Telegraph that they were going to hold 'urgent' talks with the Management of the farm and that "the city council says it will do "everything possible" to make sure the city does not lose the much-loved charity". The farm management were then told at this meeting that the Council could not help this year or in the future!!! Was this just a publicity stunt to make the caring people of Coventry think that they really give a dam????
I would like to highlight that in previous years the Council have donated £10,000 to the farm and that this money did not come from tax payers and was part of a government grant - where is this money going now?? the redevelopment of our city centre maybe.
So unless a miracle happens before the end of April this inner city farm will close and all primary schools and other groups that visit the farm will be forced to go else where, staff who have put 20+ years into this charity will lose their jobs, those people who enjoy volunteering in their community will have to find something else and the children of Hillfields and other areas in Coventry will not have the benefit of this free facility, in which they can have contact with various animals and play safely.
