South Warwickshire Shaken by Earthquake
STRATFORD SHAKEN AND STIRRED BY EARTHQUAKE
SOUTH Warwickshire residents were left both shaken and stirred by an earthquake in the early hours of Wednesday) prompting a flood of phone calls to the police from people who were unsure what had hit them.
Despite the epicentre being 100 miles away in Lincolnshire, the tremor shook beds and wobbled furniture across the Stratford district for about ten seconds, shortly before 1am. Police received more than 250 calls from concerned residents in just half an hour—many of whom thought they were being burgled.
The quake measured 5.3 on the Richter scale and was the biggest to strike this country in almost 25 years, but only in South Yorkshire was anyone injured.
