Learning by observation, it really does work. It is amazing how much the brain stores away for use even years down the track. Schools do have a responsibility but equally so do parents. How many little ones go to school now knowing how to lace up shoes, do up buttons, use a handkerchief or even use a knife and fork correctly?

I never thought they did a way with cookery lessons at schools, shows you how in touch I am. I did cookery lessons at school and enjoyed it very much and my mum always enjoyed what I made - or did she ?? bless her.
I do agree with shizara when she questions how many kids nowadays tie their laces and do up buttons and don't appear to have been taught how to use a knife and fork properly. I used to work in a local school and was shocked at how some of the 6 year old kids can't manage these things .
I remember when my son was pre school age, I told him if he could learn to tie his own shoe laces , I would give him a £1 , and low and behold , he did it !!
