I did cookery at school every Monday afternoon. Of course we did other lessons the rest of the time but one afternoon does not take much out of a school week.
The teacher only taught cookery so she wasn't distractedby havig to rush to the next lesson. She was so strict and I we learned how to do all basic English cooking by the time we were 14.
I had an adavantage----my mum was a chef and although I learnt a lot from her she did all the less boring things herself most of the time. She worked , and was so used to cooking and pushing away the dishes etc. for someone else to wash when she was at at work ..., she did the same at home. We tried to avoid baking day----------mountains of washing up.
However , getting back to the issue--It will be a good thing to get kids cooking --boys too, and hopefully it will not be just pasta, but real basic stuff
My grandson did cooking for 2 years at his school-he left last year.
Iwas quite surprised when he came home one day saying that next week they would be making sausage rolls and "mum will you get me a pack of frozen pastry"
