This could just be my cynical side making an appearance, but here goes! Most of the cooking I know was learnt by looking over my Mum & Dad's shoulders at home, then giving it a go myself. Surely home should be where people should learn to cook; or am I just being old fashioned by having family values & thinking family things are better left to families??
This reeks of the government trying to wallpaper over more general societal problems; e.g. both parents having to work to pay the bills (the government not liking the idea of a 2 parent (mother/father!) family!) etc. etc....
Anyway, aren't teachers too busy with their half arsed efforts at teaching kids how to read & write? (Apologies to any teachers who actually do make an effort to teach, but being a Dyslexic who's teachers could be bothered teaching (partly, I suspect, teaching a Dyslexic was too much like hard work, and partly due to 'progressive' teaching methds) has left me feeling a tad bitter towards the teaching 'profession')
