Lex, that's a very good question. Perhaps we could do with a list of places to holiday at that are not crawling with kids.

I avoid, like the plague, any form of holiday park - except Paris Disney - and generally look for self catering which is more relaxed than bed and breakfast. Found a really nice cottage in Wells, Somerset. Subject to places to visit being open we went to Longleat, Wookey, Weston-super-mare, Bristol, other nearby towns and Wells itself is a delightful place for strolling and photography.

Might be a bit damp there at times but have stayed at Betws-y-coed. From there you can get a local train and connect with the steam train. We walked from the station to Portmeirion. With a combination of trains, a car if you have one and walking there is much in Wales to see.
