I'm fairly ambivilant about this one. In a way I sympathise with them; I work in the private sector, and have seen my pension rights slowly being stripped away & management effectively cutting my pay by refusing to give proper pay rises, which has done wonders for my morale. I wish my union had the balls to make a stand like that.
On the other hand (partly thanks to that nice Mr Brown), pensions are having a really tough time meeting their commitments. What's more, not only do I have to pay into my own pension scheme, a huge chunk of my extortonate taxes (which I don't seem to get much value for money from) pays for their pension. Hell, some people don't know when they've got it good, I know people who are forced to retire at 60 when they can't afford to & can't get another job because of their age. If public sector workers don't want to work to 65, they should move aside & let those who want to/have to do their jobs instead.
